Looking Up

So as I jump into this journey, like many human beings, I find myself asking myself many questions about why I am even doing this. Then again, I have a generally questioning attitude and over time have learned answers are not always readily available. But I do find that when I look upward, I can find something with an answer, a direction or just a sense of peace.

So what do I mean by looking up? While I am a person of faith, which has taken years to deepen that faith, what I mean here in “looking up” is truly to lift my chin and let my eyes see what is above me.

These summer days I’m noticing a mural of clouds in different shapes, colors and messages. Some days the clouds are bright, smiling and cheerful. Other days they are dark, rolling and menacing. By looking up, I can see that nature offers some of that guidance and answers. And by allowing myself to see the ups and downs of nature, I feel like I’m not alone in my own feelings, in not always knowing the answers and things can change in an instant.

Looking up also reminds me that there are things bigger than me – a world, a sky, a community, a greater spirit. And while there are things bigger than me, I too can contribute to the world, the sky, the community, and share my own spirit. I’m looking up to see the world for what it is – a place where flawed humans like me live. I’m looking up to see a sky trying to keep its balance between the rain and sunshine. I’m looking up to see a community trying to hold itself together when so much time is focused on the negative. I’m looking up to find the courage to share my spirit, thought just a drop in a bucket, in hopes it will meet you where you are.

Through rough times and peaceful days, the answers, the direction or the sense of peace is there if you keep looking up. ~ChaCha
